Reiner Riedler, born in 1968 in Gmunden, attended the College of Photography at the Höhere Graphische Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt in Vienna after studying ethnology, journalism and musicology.
He worked as a photojournalist for many years. Later studied for a Master's degree in Image Science at Danube University Krems. In 2017 he founded the photo book label Reflektor, in 2020 the collective Artscope Vienna, dedicated to the visualisation of art spaces.
His work has been presented at numerous photo festivals worldwide and many times in exhibitions, for example at the Centre Pompidou/ Paris, Kunsthalle Schirn/ Frankfurt, Josephinum/ Vienna, Stadthaus Ulm, Deutsche Kinemathek/ Berlin or TIFF/ Toronto.
His work has been awarded prizes such as the La Fábrica Photobook Award, the Prix L'honneur Levallois, the Special Prize of the Bavarian Hospice or the Kaunas Grand Prix.
