FAVORITE FALL
Our current exhibition in Favoriten is dedicated to autumnal motifs. On display are colourful deciduous forests, harvested fields, ripe sunflowers and apples, visits to coffee houses, people in caps and coats. The works on display demonstrate central approaches to photographic art: firstly, the detailed reproduction of the specific, such as landscape, local colour or seasonal mood. Secondly, abstracting tendencies and alienation effects that open up new scope for interpretation. And finally, the staging, in which pictorial objects are arranged as still lifes and models as tableaux vivants. These three long-lasting pictorial concepts are shown using representative examples from the work of ten photographic artists whose works span a century of photographic history, from the interwar period to 2019:
Alfons Walde (1891-1958), Andre Kertesz (1894-1985), Franz Hubmann (1914-2007), Mario Giacomelli (1925-2000), Padhi Frieberger (1931-2016), Cora Pongracz (1943-2003), Takeushi Toshinobu (1943-2022), David LaChapelle (*1963), Rita Nowak (*1979), Anna Breit (*1991).
We cordially invite you to an exclusive guided tour of the exhibition with Marie Röbl on Friday, 20 September at 5 pm. Please register at rosner@ostlicht.org.
