ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE
PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE BEATLES

In June 1967, the Beatles are the highlight of the first global TV broadcast: As part of the programme Our World and on behalf of the BBC, they perform the song All You Need Is Love, composed by John Lennon especially for the occasion, in the Abbey Road Studios - followed by 400 million viewers worldwide who watch live via satellite on their television screens.
The historic event was exclusively documented by British photographer David Magnus, who accompanied the Beatles during rehearsals and was the only photographer to have access to the studio during the live broadcast. Magnus (*1944, London) had already photographed the Beatles in 1963 when he was just 19 years old and enjoyed the band's trust ever since. His photographs, which show the Fab Four in the midst of a flower power setting with star friends such as Mick Jagger, among others, represent the Swinging Sixties and the atmosphere of the Summer of Love like hardly any other pictures. In particular, Magnus' colour photographs of the Beatles in their colourful costumes give an idea of how colourful and lively the entire scene was.
