It seemed as if the working masses from Alexander Rodchenko’s photographs had found their way into WestLicht. About 120 visitors in the packed auditorium listened to the talk by Berlin journalist and Rodchenko-expert Bernhard Schulz, who focused on Rodchenko’s career as photographer and graphic designer. In his lecture, Schulz examined Rodchenko’s difficult relationship to the official aesthetics of the Soviet state in the 1920s and 1930s. After the talk, people had time to take a closer look at some of the original photographs which had just been mentioned in the lecture.
