OPENING. ZERO GRAVITY. THE HISTORY OF SPACE PHOTOGRAPHY
09.04.2014
Visitors felt almost weightless at the exhibition opening of Zero Gravity. The History of Space Photography on Wednesday evening at the Museum of Photography WestLicht. Curator Jay Belloli, California International Arts Foundation, came all the way from Los Angeles to open the show for the first time in Europe. In his exciting introduction, Belloli explained the various ways in which these fantastic-looking images are created.
In addition to an installation by Vienna-based artist Markus Krottendorfer, visitors were also able to marvel at the recently auctioned Hasselblad Lunar Module Pilot Camera - the camera used by Jim Irwin on the Apollo 15 moon landing. It is the only camera ever sold that returned to Earth from a lunar landing. Guests were also able to view a selection of photographs of the Apollo 11 mission from the WestLicht collection, and to end the evening in a relaxed atmosphere with a glass of wine.
