Opening World Press Photo 14

Exhibition
The 130 pictures shown were selected and awarded prizes by the strict World Press Photo jury from the fields of politics, culture, society, sport and nature. These photos are moving, disturbing, fascinating and touching. They are photographic documents, each of which has its own exciting story to tell.
WestLicht owner Peter Coeln was pleased to be able to show this chronicle in pictures of the past year at the Museum of Photography WestLicht for the 13th time. He was also able to welcome Carla Kogelman, a winner of the World Press Photo Award. The Dutch photographer accompanied two girls from the Waldviertel in a sensitive series of portraits. The two sisters Hannah (7) and Alena (9) came to WestLicht for the opening. Press editor-in-chief Rainer Nowak and Anna Lena Mehr from the World Press Photo Foundation opened the exhibition, and the numerous visitors, including National Council member Peter Pilz, Leica CEO Alfred Schopf, film producer Norbert Blecha, Gregor Schlierenzauer's uncle and guardian Markus Prock and ORF News man Tarek Leitner, plunged enthusiastically into the adventurous world of images.
