FINDING VIVIAN MAIER
Open Air Film screening
02.08.2018
Open air cinema premiere at WestLicht: About 150 visitors came to the screening of Finding Vivian Maier in the museum's inner courtyard. The documentary by John Maloof and Charlie Siskel draws a portrait of the photographer based on interviews with contemporary witnesses. Maier had never exhibited her photographic work; her pictures only came to light shortly before her death through a forced auction and the involvement of several collectors. Who was this woman who earned her living as a nanny all her life and created a body of work that has since become one of the classics of the medium? A search for clues, in which Vivian Maier's former protégés in particular have their say.
